*flings self on the ground to scream and wail that she didn’t get to meet Richard her ownself, then remembers that John is going to get her Richard’s sig in the latest Sandman Slim book at NYCC and is all happy again!*
First off I want to say great blog! I had
a quick question in which I’d like to ask if you don’t
mind. I was interested to find out how you center yourself and clear your mind prior to writing.
I’ve had difficulty clearing my thoughts in getting my thoughts out there. I do take pleasure in writing but it just seems like the first 10 to 15 minutes are wasted simply just trying to figure out how to begin. Any recommendations or tips? Cheers!

One of the things that I find the most helpful is to not stop at a stopping point. If I stop at the end of a chapter or scene, it’s harder to get started again than if I stop in the middle of something. It’s kinds like stopping a bike at the top of a hill or halfway down rather than stopping at the bottom of the hill. If you stop at the bottom of the hill, it’s a bitch to get rolling again. Writing is the same way for me.
